so apparently a note written by J.D. Salinger for his maid is on sale for $50,000.
if you can't read his handwriting above, the note says
"Dear Mary — Please make sure all the errands are done before you go on vacation, as I do not want to be bothered with insignificant things. Thank you. J.D. Salinger"
which ok, is hilarious, but worth 50K? hmmm.
That is unbelievable--- I hope she was well paid for working for him, doing "insignificant things"! She must have really needed that vacation :)
