a little bit of this and that for the weekend

thank goodness it is friday! i am so completely ready for the weekend, it was kind of a rough week. SIGH. tonight we're headed to the phillies game (in 103 degree weather? umm sure...) and then tomorrow i'm headed up to new york state for my cousin's bridal shower.

now for some great stuff i wanted to share before i head off for some much needed decompression...

so i've been a little behind with posting as i adjust to life after vacation and getting back into the swing of things (like giving lab meeting yesterday, ugh always a stressful process)

hope everyone is enjoying summer so far and has big fun plans for the weekend! we'll be back late sunday at some point and i'll be back online on monday. i've got more days off of work so i'm looking forward to doing a massive shop update and maybe finally working on that website i've been planning... i'll also be sharing photos from our vacation in the week to come!

but it's summer! so i hope this weekend finds you heading to the closest body of water or gathering all of your favorite people for a barbecue ;)

TIE-DYE!

so i did a little tie dying... and made a few things!

i'm slowly rolling out a quick little summer collection over in the SHOP and would love you all to check it out ;) i hand dyed all of the cotton jersey myself and then cut up all the pretty purple, blue, and green material into yarn for fun new bracelets and necklaces! everything is one of kind and i like to think that these pieces are super unique since i couldn't possibly duplicate the yarn again. i still have a lot more yarn to use so there is even more new stuff on the horizon. i'm also planning on dying a few more lots of fabric before this summer is over so there should be some different color combos in the future!

hot days & a cool drink

well hello SUMMER. so glad you could stop by early and bring a lovely wave of sweltering 90+ degree days to the tri-state area! rarr. so yeah, it is HOT. really HOT. and i'm really not the biggest fan of it, sighhhhh.

BUT i did have a pretty awesome memorial day weekend and hope (if you are stateside) that you did too ;) i danced my little heart out at this big reunions party on friday and enjoyed BBQs with friends the rest of the days.

today, i had a very nice extra day off and enjoyed it by getting quite a bit of work done including shipping off some bracelets to a shop in nyc (!!!) and getting some of my new tie-dyed creations listed in the shop (see them all HERE).

but it was another hot day and i mixed up that nice little cocktail seen above to help cool off ;) so here's my little twist on a gin and tonic to help you stay refreshed these summer days!

minty fresh gin & tonic

- muddle fresh mint and 2 fresh cucumber slices in the bottom of your glass
- add copious amounts of ice
- add gin (amount depends on the day you are having ;)
- bring to desired volume with tonic water
- garnish with some pretty mint leaves
